Interview with Lucy Felthouse
I’m so excited to have one of my very favorite authors, Lucy Felthouse, here today talking with me about writing and editing and her super-hot anthology Uniform Behavior!
LisaFox: Tell us about you. Who is Lucy Felthouse?
LucyFelthouse: I’m a graduate of the University of Derby, which is where I discovered my knack for writing erotica. I was dared to write an erotic story, so I did. It went down a storm and I’ve never looked back. I’ve now been published by Cleis Press, Ravenous Romance, Xcite Books and several magazines and websites.
LF: Uniform Behavior features sixteen (!!) steamy stories all about sexy men in various uniforms. That’s a whole lot of bedtime reading material. What inspired you to create it?
LucyF: I’ve always had a bit of a thing for men in uniform, and I wanted to edit an anthology. So I decided to go with a theme that I enjoy, and the rest is history!
LF: And not only is it superhot for these cold winter nights but it a portion of the proceeds go to Help for Heroes. How did you come across this charity? Are you actively involved with them? Why did you choose them?
LucyF: Help for Heroes is a very widely publicized charity in the UK. They do great work for returning servicemen and women who’ve been injured in battle. I’ve donated to the charity before, but hadn’t done anything to fundraise for them. I thought I’d go with something a bit different! I chose them because they do fabulous work; but also because I have close friends in the British Army and I know what they sacrifice for us. This is my way of giving something back.
LF: This is your first time editing an anthology. What was the best part? What was the worst?
LucyF: That’s easy. The best parts (sorry, I have to say two!) were sending out acceptances and seeing the finished thing available for sale. The worst part was sending out rejection emails.
LF: As an editor, what made a story “good” for you? What elements did you really want to have?
LucyF: For me, it was key that the uniform was an integral part of each story, which is why I chose the stories I did. Also, they had to be super-duper hot!
LF: The hero is so important. Who is your ideal hero? What traits are must haves?
LucyF: I don’t have one single hero. I tend to create characters dependent on what part they have to play in a particular story. Naturally, since it’s fiction and I’m allowed, they must all be gorgeous and brilliant in the bedroom!
LF: Any new projects in the works? What are you working on now?
LucyF: At the moment I’m working on lots of different calls for submissions, as well as promoting Uniform Behaviour.
LF: How can people find you online?
LucyF: My own personal website can be found at http://lucyfelthouse.co.uk. On there you’ll find links to my Twitter and Facebook pages, so please come say hello! I also run Erotica For All, a site for readers and writers of erotica, which you can find at http://eroticaforall.co.uk. Hopefully see you there!
Great interview Lisa, and nice to know more about Lucy. She is a real force in erotica, and has been very supportive of writers. I’m glad to see her get the recognition she deserves. Eden
