Six Sentence Sunday

July 15, 2012

Here are six more sentences from A MATTER OF LUST.

Rena reflects upon her night with Trask.

They’d spent hours up in her office, fucking, licking, sucking, playing. They had finally stumbled back downstairs when the weak rays of sunlight were just beginning to lighten the sky. Their footsteps were loud as they crossed the silent, empty club. They parted at the entrance with a kiss, which was nice, but no numbers were exchanged, no plans were made to see one another again. She closed her eyes, reliving that moment, that slow, searching, penetrating kiss that was everything him. It had been so wonderful, so full of promise, but then he was gone, slipping out the door and melting into the remaining shadows of the night.

Kind of sad that they never exchanged numbers. A fabulous six! 🙂

Great job showing the drop in temperature from the hot hot sex to the almost cold separation.

I love that first line you shared! And you show in a very poignant way how people can connect physically and then not make that leap into a more emotionally intimate connection. (Of course, they’ll meet again–it’s a romance!), but this is such a great “parting”. Excellent six, Lisa!

Oh, meant to say this: LOVE that photo! Where the heck do you get these photos? Seriously. Are they on a royalty free photo website? That chest is awesome (among other body parts, LOL!) Dang!!

  4. July 15, 2012 9:16 am

Nothing like hot sausage with my coffee on Sunday morning.

  5. July 15, 2012 9:16 am

So hot. They can’t let it end there!

  6. July 15, 2012 9:33 am

I’ll just second what K.E. said about the disconnect between a physical connection and an emotional one — you portrayed that wonderfully. 🙂

  7. July 15, 2012 10:47 am

    OMG Graylin! LMAO
Definitely hot-to-trot and frigid. A most excellent six, Lisa!

  8. July 15, 2012 11:30 am

This is lovely, Lisa. Very poignant and real.

Donna and K.E. said it for me. You’ve captured their disconnect and her regret so well.

  10. July 15, 2012 1:13 pm

That’s very touching. It makes it clear that while they were both there for the sex there’s a lot of emotion involved too. On her part at least.

I acidentally got my cursor on the photo and was convulsed by the pop-up title. “Sexymanwindowbulge” is the BEST title ever.

  11. July 15, 2012 1:16 pm

Really emotional six. Good job! Thanks for the photo too. 🙂

  12. July 15, 2012 2:15 pm

Fantastic snippet, Lisa. Lots of real emotion and the perfect amount of description.

  13. July 15, 2012 3:02 pm

OK the photo was amazing, even with a migraine I can appreciate *that* photo. A headache is no problem at ALL! But the six was very affecting, made me feel sad for her that they didn’t even exchange numbers, no way to connect again presumably (altho fortunately problems like that can be solved in books LOL). Definitely makes me want to read on in this story. Great six!

  14. July 15, 2012 5:18 pm

The disconnect here was very well done, the hint of regret and no exchange of numbers intrigues me as to why it didn’t happen. Great six!

  15. July 15, 2012 6:59 pm

Wowza! I agree, that first line’s a doozy, and that picture makes it hard to concentrate. HOT six!

  16. July 15, 2012 9:31 pm

WOW this is a hot six!!

  17. August 6, 2012 7:45 pm

    Delicious six!
