Hi hon, left you a comment on your guest blog, but not sure if it will show up, so leaving for you here too.

Lisa! As you know my book, Fall into Winter, is self-pubbed, and my experience was good. I’ll be doing it again for my second book. I fully understand all the objections you have to selp-pub and they are valid. It’s not easy. There’s a lot to do post-pub that many people don’t have the time to do. I write full-time and somedays it seems all I’m doing is promoting. It certainly is not a simple model, but one thing I do like is the control – the ability to push the envelope of stories and to do my own cover design. When you are published by a trad. pub, the branding and the look of your book belongs to them. It’s not better or worse, but just different.

You are certainly right that there is less time to write because of all the other responsibilities involved, but for me, it’s a good trade-off. I’m glad you tried this route and know what it’s like, and who knows? Maybe one day you will do it again…

    Great post, Lisa

      Thanks so much Eden.

I think a lot of my problem was I didn’t anticipate just how much work it would be. Doing it on your own is a HUGE commitment and I totally respect you for doing it with Fall Into Winter.

Now that I know what to expect for the most part, I may do another self-pub thing in the future. I try to never say never.
