“You don’t have to go,” Nick said as he watched Lela get dressed. He adjusted the pillows behind his head and settled back against them. His body was still warm and languid from their lovemaking and he could smell her scent on his skin. What he wanted more than anything was to take hold of her and drag back into bed, but she had been steadfast in her desire to leave.
Lela rolled her eyes at him and he couldn’t help but smile. “I told you, I have to go see Phoebe.” She pulled on her jeans and bounced up and down as she tugged them on. “Something’s…” She tilted her head to the side and appeared to be listening to something only she could hear. “Something’s not right.”
“I could have told you something wasn’t right with Phoebe,” he grumbled.
Lela threw a sock at him that he caught one-handed and then she went back to gathering her clothes. “I really need to go see her, Nick,” she said, turning her back to him to fasten her bra. “I have a really bad feeling.”
Nick glanced at the clock. “It’s not even noon,” he said, and tossed the covers aside to climb out of bed. Lela bent over to retrieve her shoe and he wrapped his arms around her waist. He kissed the nape of her neck, her throat. “Phoebe’s not going to be awake yet.” He pulled her tighter against him, enjoying the way she squirmed in his arms. He felt her heartbeat quicken when he cupped her breasts in his hands. “You can go over there later,” he said, nibbling on her ear. “An hour.” He swallowed hard as she rubbed against him, the delightful friction heating his blood. “Make that two hours.”
Lela laughed and let him kiss and fondle her, but just went he thought he might have won her over, when he thought she might actually be convinced to stay for a little while longer, she wriggled out of his arms and out of his reach.
“I have to go, Nick,” she said, and he could see the near desperation in her green eyes.
“Okay,” he sighed. “Go.” He gave her a quick smile to tell her that it was okay. “I’ll see you later tonight.”
“What are you going to do today?” she asked as she finished getting dressed.
“I don’t know,” he said, sitting down on the bed. “I don’t have to be at the Diner, so maybe I’ll take a ride or something.”
“That sounds nice,” she said. She flashed him a wide, sexy smile. “So, are you going to walk me out or what?”
“Sure,” he said, reaching for his jeans. “I’ll walk you out.”

Always a fun read! I just love the way you show the interplay between people, the dialogue flows and the actions between them are so natural. Well done!
Julie Johnson
I agree with Julie up there. You do a great job showing the interaction and playfulness between Nick and Lela.
