Presenting Author Casey Sheridan
It is my extreme pleasure to introduce you to one of my most favorite erotic authors and good friend Casey Sheridan!
LF: Let’s start with you. Tell me about you. Who is Casey Sheridan?
CS: I think that is the hardest question for me to answer. Being shy, I never know what to say. I love to write, of course, and I love to read. Besides that… well, I wrote me first book when I was thirteen. It was a childrens book about a witch. I’m an alien from another planet. At least according to my mom anyway. She claims I was hatched.
My first erotic story was written on a dare. It was absolutely terrible. I have it hidden in my underwear drawer. But I really enjoyed writing it. It was a lot of fun and that’s why I have stayed with writing erotic stories.
LF: Tell me about the differences between writing straight erotica and romance. Do you have a different mindset when you start? How is the writing different?
CS: I don’t know that I have a different mindset per se. With straight erotica there doesn’t have to be any romantic elements woven into the story like a romance would have. The story still needs to have sexual tension, lust, desire, sensuality, etc., but romantic elements are optional.
LF: I find writing sex scenes incredibly difficult sometimes. The limitations of language, the whole trying to put into words something that is really beyond words, you know what I mean. How do you feel about writing sex scenes?
CS: I agree with you, Lisa. Writing a sex scene is a challenge. Maybe I should say writing a good sex scene is a challenge, but that’s why I love writing them, because they are difficult. Writing in general is a challenge, but a sex scene is more so. It’s about so much more that putting tab A into slot B. It has to include the buildup of tension, the mental and emotional path the characters take before the physical act. It’s the culmination of all three at the end. Putting all that into words that pull the reader in is a tremendous and wonderful challenge.
LF: Who is your ultimate hero? Why him?
CS: I like a hero that is flawed. Maybe he’s afraid of spiders. Or maybe he’s claustrophobic. I can relate to being flawed. Besides, having a flaw makes him much sexier. I’m all for sexy men!
I also like a hero that is masculine and strong, but tender and passionate when the situation calls for it. They really know how to make a woman feel like a woman. That too, is sexy. I guess, in a nut shell, I like sexy men.
(This seemed like a good time for a gratuitous shot of Gerard Butler, Casey’s future ex-husband)
LF: Are you currently working on any new projects?
CS: I am working on a steamy/erotic superhero story that I would like to run on my blog as a series and I am also trying to work on an erotic romantic fantasy with sorcerers, etc. I don’t have titles yet, I’m still in the “research and development” stages.
LF: You write super hot stories. Where can I read all of your stuff?
CS: Thanks so much, Lisa! That’s nice of you to say.
