The Power of Story

I’m in love. Totally and completely, head-over-heels in love. I think about him when I cannot be with him. I daydream about him at work. I look forward to when I can spend time with him again.

He is tall and beautiful and disciplined and confident and a touch arrogant and intelligent and brave and torn and tragic and so very, very human.

I cry when his heart breaks and I rejoice in his every victory.

His name is Joscelin Verreuil and he is one of the main characters of Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Legacy series.

Of course, he isn’t the first.  There have been others. Daemon Sadi. Spike Spiegel. Vane Kattalakis. Sal Paradise. More. Too many to count. And I’m certain there will be numerous others to follow.

Dangerous men. Violent men. Passionate men. Warriors. Protectors. Men with secrets and codes and histories and power and a little bit of tragedy.

And I love to fall in love over and over and over again.
